Rethinking Sleep and Dreams

Sleep is not a passive state. Your brain remains highly active during certain stages — especially during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, where dreams occur.

For some people, this can lead to:

  • Vivid or intense dreams
  • Mental fatigue after waking
  • A feeling of not being fully rested
"What if sleep could be gently guided — not disrupted — to improve how you feel in the morning?"

How Lulra Works

Lulra uses signals from your Apple Watch — such as heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and movement — to estimate when your brain is in a prolonged dream-heavy state.

When this state persists, Lulra applies subtle haptic feedback (gentle vibrations) designed to slightly shift your sleep cycle.

This is not an alarm and does not aim to wake you. Instead, the goal is to:

  • Reduce excessive dream intensity
  • Support more balanced sleep cycles
  • Help you wake up feeling clearer

The Science Behind It

Recent research suggests that sleep and dreams can be influenced through carefully timed external signals.

  • Studies have shown that gentle sensory cues (such as sound or vibration) can be delivered during sleep without fully waking the user.
  • Other research indicates that dream intensity and emotional content can be modulated during REM sleep using external cues.

Lulra builds on these emerging insights by combining real-time sleep signal estimation, controlled minimal interventions, and a focus on preserving overall sleep quality.

Designed for Safety and Balance

Lulra is designed with a simple principle: Do not disrupt sleep — only gently guide it.

To support this:

  • Interventions are limited and spaced out
  • No interaction occurs during early deep sleep
  • Signals are subtle and adaptive

The goal is not to eliminate dreams, but to reduce excessive or overwhelming dream activity.

A New Approach to Sleep

Lulra is part of an emerging space sometimes referred to as sleep modulation — where technology interacts with sleep in a careful, controlled way. This is an evolving field, and Lulra is designed to be thoughtful, minimal, and user-first.

Important Note: Lulra is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. It is designed as a wellness tool to help improve your overall sleep experience.

Our Goal

Sleep deeper. Dream calmer. Wake clearer.
